Living in Sync with the Wheel of the Year

We are so used to living in a fast paced world, in which we never stop, we always go, and all year long looks pretty much the same, or so we think.
Some places have true seasons in which the outer world expresses the shifts that nature goes through: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter. Some other places the outer world shifts are bit more subtle, but they are still happening.
However, most of us live under the illusion that time is linear, and we have to constantly keep up , go bigger, learn faster, earn more, travel more, etc. Even food can be accessible all year long regardless of the season.
In summary, expectations are high all year long and everything has to be more and better, but the reality hits when we realize that this is not sustainable, and our overall wellbeing has suffered because of this in every possible way: body, mind and soul. This linearity of forever expansiveness is an illusion and a story we have told ourselves in our capitalistic world for the benefit of this consumerism that capitalism thrives on.
This illusion has had a huge negative impact in our physical, mental, and spiritual health. People are burnt out, have anxiety, depression, cronic illnesess, insomnia, hormonal disorders, etc. The list is long, and the way we currently "fix" this is usually by taking a pill (or many) that we hope takes it all away, or masks deeper issues.
The reality is that these pills only covers the surface of the symptom of a way bigger and deeper problem that of course is multi layered, and multidimensional. But, hey, we have to start somewhere.

Where do we Start?
We can start by syncing back with the Wheel of the Year. Every season is charged with energy and flows that are in place for a reason: Spring (blooming and birth), Summer (burst of energy), Fall (start slowing down), Winter (recharge and rest).
It is a circle, a cycle, and a wheel. It is a wave of expansion, and contraction. And if we tune in and follow the rhythm that Mother Earth and the Cosmos follow, our overall health will improve: mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Our monthly reminder of our living in cycles starts with the moon and her phases from New Moon to Waxing to Full to Waning to Black Moon back to New Moon.
The seasons are just a larger cycle within one year, and every year is a new cycle in the spiral of life.
How can we sync in with the seasons?
First, we can sync in with the seasons by creating rituals that acknowledge and honor the seasonal transitions we go through every year, and we use them as portals to ground and connect with the cycles of Mother Earth and our own. They also help us connect with the energy balance of the Day and the Night, and the position of our planet in our Solar System and the Cosmos at large. We have 4 key dates in the year that helps us through this: Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox, and Winter Solstice.
Secondly, we can also eat seasonal foods. This is probably one of my favorite tools. Food tastes amazing when it is in season, plus it will nourish us with the right nutrients our bodies need for that particular season. Play with colors, textures, and tastes. It is actually a feast for the senses and so fun for the soul.
Lastly, we can follow the rythm of the light available to us and relate it to our own energy. In Summer, long days mean a lot of energy is available to be out and about, and expand. Fall is the time to release all the excess, all we do not longer need, so by Winter, we can rest and recover while the days are short and the nights are long. Lastly, in Spring, the soil has rested, and the seeds have the strength to bloom and become what they are meant to become one more time, ready to shine bright for the Summer long days. And so the wheel of the year keeps going round and round. As you can see, every season has its own magic.
Personal awareness is key here. Pay attention and flow with that wave and shift of energy accordingly.
Conclusion
By living in sync with the seasons, we are able to eat better, sleep better, and understand that life is not lineal. It is a spiral, and it is cyclical. It's a cycle of expansion and contraction. Going against this gets us sick, frustrated, depressed, tired, etc.
If we flow with the wheel of the year, and we honor it, we will heal from deep within, not from a pill that superficially "fixes" things, but truthfully heal in a holistic way.
Please remember this will bring profound healing slowly, so it requires patience and trust in the process. This is basically part of Holistic Healing journey, which is sustainable and our individual responsibility as part of the collective. This is ancient knowledge that lives within all of us, we just have forgotten about it. And it is time to claim it back as a way of living today, and forever more.
